The Health & Safety Engineer will be a degreed professional who drives continuous improvement of health and safety systems, processes, and methods within the plant. The position will be focused on standard, daily HSE activities approximately half of the time while the other half will be committed to continuously improving how HSE is deployed to the departments through projects, documentation, procedures, systems, processes, and training. They will bring knowledge of regulatory compliance, best practices, and best available technology to the plant for assessment and implementation.Required Education/Experience:Associate degree or higher in business management or HSE related field.3 years minimum experience in an HSE-related or engineering role.Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to write reports and procedures.Effective project management skills, self-motivated, team-oriented, timely, problem-solving skills, excellent recordkeeping, and documentation skills.Preferred Skills/Qualifications:The ability to inspire, motivate and influence others and communicate complex technical information.Computer skills required in Microsoft Office with capability to do advanced analytics with other software packages as needed (data analysis proficiency).Must be highly motivated and comfortable working independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.Must be willing to stay informed of the best available HSE technologies across the industry, participate in HSE association events/networking opportunities, representing the plant and Hydro.Job Responsibilities:Develops, maintains, and reviews local HSE policies to ensure compliance with current and future local, state, and federal compliance requirements and additionally Hydro corporate HSE requirements.Helps deploy C7-based projects such as Brady 360 for LTV standardization.Tracks assigned KPI's and drives continuous improvement based on leading and lagging indicators.Assesses effectiveness of incident corrective actions, supports case management, supports audit action closure, maintains focused plant support in all areas needed and as requested.Evaluates H&S plant level processes to determine where largest gaps exist. Works to standardize processes across the plant so they can fall under a tighter policy umbrella and thus be easier to manage from a compliance perspective.Conducts HSE Management System (HSEMS) audits to verify continuous compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements.Care, Courage, & CollaborationAt Hydro We care about our People!We care about Safety!Hydro values diverse skills and perspectives among employees.
