Compensation: FLSA Status ExemptPosition Summary

The SSHO is responsible for performing a variety of routine and complex administrative, technical and professional assignments in analyzing and administering various components of the environmental, health and safety programs to ensure project safety and health compliance.Position Responsibilities

Responsible for managing, implementing, and enforcing the contractor safety planConduct daily safety and health inspections and maintain a written logReview the safety plan and hazard analyses for compliance with project requirementsEstablish a plan for monitoring and addressing safety deficiencies until resolutionEnsure subcontractor compliance with safety and health requirementsConduct weekly site-safety meetings for entire projectLead in-house trainings with managers, employees and subcontractors about health and safety issuesMaintain a list of hazardous chemicals on site and their material Safety Data Sheets (SDS)Maintain a weekly list of high hazard activities involving energy, equipment, excavation, entry into confined space, and elevation, and be prepared to discuss details during QC MeetingsBrief all visitors and authorized entrants to the site on safety policies and procedures, on hazards to be expected on the site and the safety and health controls required (e.g., hard hat, foot protection)Provide and keep a record of site safety orientation and indoctrination for Contractor employees, subcontractor employees, and site visitorsMaintain a stock of common Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as hard hats, eye protection, ear plugs, and reflective vests, for use by visitors and authorized entrants to the siteMaintain applicable safety reference material on the job siteConduct mishap investigations and complete required accident reportsComply with all applicable federal, state and local regulations, statutes, ordinances, rules and lawsPerform other related activities as assignedEssential Skills and Experience

Five years of continuous construction industry safety experienceMeet the requirements of USACE EM 385-1-1 Safety and Health Requirements Manual Section 130-hour OSHA General Industry safety class30-hour OSHA Construction Industry safety classDocumented history of continuing education activities per USACE EM 385-1-1High school diploma or general education degree (GED)Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite programsAbility to obtain a base pass for working onsiteCPR/First Aid CertificationPhysical Demands
