OMS Consulting Services is looking for a Scientist-level Industrial Hygienist who will design, coordinate, and manage regulated materials sampling and analysis plans and surveys for asbestos containing materials, lead-containing materials, PCBs, universal wastes, and other hazardous materials. In addition, will conduct site characterization studies for remedial investigations and industrial facilities decontamination and demolition. Preferred industries of experience include power utilities, transportation, chemical, oil and gas, and Department of Defense.

Essential Functions:

Develop sampling and analyses plans for hazardous materials and regulated waste site characterization, certify plans for submittal to appropriate regulatory agencies.Develop air resource sampling and analyses plans and monitoring plans, certify plans for submittal to appropriate regulatory agencies.Coordination and execution of regulated materials surveys for asbestos-containing materials, lead-containing materials, PCBs, universal wastes, etc.Provide regulated materials abatement oversight and air monitoring.Conduct indoor air quality, mechanical hygiene, and ventilation assessments.Review and assess laboratory data for validity and assess against applicable regulatory thresholds.Make recommendations and determinations related to compliance thresholds and recommended actions.Identify mitigations and best management practices for identified exceedances (noise, air, water, soil media).Perform moisture and microbial assessments.Provide field and office support for Project Managers.Willingness to travel occasionally and be available for night and weekend work, on occasion, as needed.Other duties as assigned by OMS or the client.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Industrial hygiene or related field and 8 years’ related experience, or a Master's degree and 7 years' experience.Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).DOSH Certified Site Surveillance Technician (CSST) required or Certified Asbestos Consultant (CAC) preferred.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Strong interpersonal skills, ability to resolve problems and to work with stakeholders.Competence with laptops, tablets, smartphones, and Microsoft Office.Ability to travel to various client locations as needed.Ability to work occasional overtime and weekends.Required to maintain a Class C driver’s license, including participating in Employer Pull Notice Program (EPN), with DMV.Conduct a background check, drug screening, and health exam.

Preferred:

CDPH Lead-Related Construction Sampling Technician, Inspector/Assessor and/or Project Monitor preferred, but not required.ACAC Certified Microbial Consultant, Certified Microbial Investigator, and/or Certified Indoor Environmentalist preferred, but not required.Certified Safety Professional (CSP).Knowledge of AIHA’s Mathematical Models for Estimating Occupational Exposure to Chemicals, is a plus but not required.Knowledge of quantitative risk assessment and exposure modeling tools such as ALOHA and AIHA’s IHMOD2, IHSkinPerm, and OHDMod applications.AIChE Process Hazard Analysis training (or equivalent); OSHA 10/30 hour general industry trainer certification; First Responder (Operations or Industrial Technician); CARO/CIRO.

Working Conditions:

Environmental Factors - Indoor and outdoor conditions; exposure to heat, cold, potentially hazardous chemicals, toxic materials; work on/walk on slippery or uneven and potentially mountainous terrain.
