Job Description:

About the Role:

Ensure the plant follows all State, Federal, and local safety and environmental regulations and maintain and update policies and recordkeeping requirements.

Manage data entry and task completion via Intelex.

Cultivate a team-based EHS culture and provide associated training and documentation supporting a strong EHS program.

Serve as a resource and facilitator to the Safety Committee, Plant Emergency Response Team, and other teams which comprise the safety and risk management process.

Provide leadership in the development of Plant and Corporate EHS goals and Monthly Safety statistics and report plant results in a timely manner.

Coordinate with Safety Committee and Management on plant Safety initiatives.

Maintain Contractor Safety Program.

Develop and coordinate all the training associated with health, safety, wellness, technical, apprenticeship, Environmental and cultural needs of the Cedar Rapids Group Members and relevant Contractors.

Ensure plant resources are trained and held accountable to all applicable policy and procedures.

Coordinate all accident and near miss investigations, complete necessary paperwork, communicate findings, and manage corrective actions with Management, Safety Committee and Group Members.

Coordinate Environmental Duties including SWPPP (Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan), NPDES (National Pollution Discharge Elimination System) Permit, Internal/External Environmental Audits, Air Pollution Permit, Air Quality Inspections, Dust Collector Reports, Hazardous Waste, TIER II Report Corporate Environmental Audit and present annual training.

Coordinate Site Security / Food Defense Program and present annual training.

Interact with insurance carrier, Medical Providers, Outside Contractors, and Training Resources.

Ensure DOT compliance for Shipping Operators.

Serve as primary contact for all related regulatory and compliance officers/auditors as needed.

Must be able to work, as a trusted professional, with highly confidential information.

Self-directed identification of key loss trends and implementation of continuous improvement action plans.

Accountable for all Lock-Out-Tag-Out, Ergonomic, Key Concepts of Safety, Job Safety Analysis, Powered Industrial Truck, Chemical/Hazardous Material Handling, Electrical Safety, Confined Space Entry, and Elevated work program compliance.

About You:

Bachelor’s degree preferred in Safety or related discipline with an overall GPA of 3.0 or above.

Working knowledge of production equipment, mechanical processes, preventative maintenance concepts, food safety practices, and employee safety requirements.

Self-motivated and able to manage multiple projects effectively. Must have a passion for Safety.

Strong written and oral communication skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is required.

1-year related experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. ASP, CSP or Safety Certification preferred.
