Senior Staff Scientist

General Responsibilities:Terracon is seeking individuals to join the Environmental Planning team in Saint Louis, Missouri. The applicant will be responsible for conducting field surveys including wetland delineations and listed species habitat assessments with minimal oversight. The candidate will also prepare reports, complete mitigation and impact assessments, prepare permit applications for submittal to regulatory agencies, manage projects including coordination with regulatory agencies and clients, and assist with proposal preparation. Experience working in Missouri and Illinois delineating wetlands is preferred, with additional experience in other states being beneficial. Experience or permits for listed species presence/absence surveys are beneficial but not required.Essential Roles and Responsibilities:Follow safety rules, guidelines, and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.Perform site visits, field observations, and field data collection or assignments with minimal supervision.Experience in collecting data with a GPS and post-processing data in ArcGIS Pro.Evaluate complex field data, reports, maps, and drawings to plan and permit projects.Assist in the development of written proposals to clients or agencies for projects.Participate in a team with other scientists on large or complex projects under the direction of senior staff.May serve as a team member in meetings and communications with clients or agencies pertaining to specific projects/tasks.Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or a related science field and a minimum of 4 years’ related experience.
