Elon University invites applications for a tenure-track writer of creative nonfiction, at the assistant professor level, beginning mid-August 2025. Secondary expertise in poetry preferred.Requirements:
MFA or higher, an active record of publication in top-tier journals and/or presses, and a history of innovation and excellence in undergraduate teaching. We especially seek candidates with a teaching history that demonstrates explicit engagement with, and commitment to, understanding experiences shaped by race, ethnicity, gender and sexuality, dis/ability, religion, and/or class.A successful applicant will teach the intermediate nonfiction course, as well as multi-genre introductory and upper-level creative writing courses, including senior seminar. The applicant will also teach first-year writing and interdisciplinary courses in the Elon Core Curriculum, mentor students pursuing creative thesis projects, and/or advise the campus literary journal. Other duties include academic advising, participating in department and university service, and organizing and supporting the visiting writers series. Teaching load is typically six courses per year.Candidates who have experience working with a diverse range of people are encouraged to identify their experiences in contributing to a climate of inclusivity in their cover letters.Applications must be received by November 4, 2024.
