The Stewardship Field Technician will implement fieldwork designed and planned by the Stewardship Manager, supporting the stewardship and conservation efforts at Kualoa Ranch. This role involves active participation in native forest management and restoration projects, including:Native seed collection, greenhouse work, outplanting, weed control, monitoring, and rare plant management.Assisting with the management of rare and endangered species.Managing pastureland to improve grazing efficiency, including invasive species control and fence repair.Controlling and eradicating targeted alien species in forested and lowland areas using chemical (herbicide and insecticide) and mechanical methods.Conducting inventories of native and non-native species across Ranch lands.Maintaining spring-fed loʻi kalo sites, including planting, harvesting, and weeding.Collecting and analyzing technical field data and utilizing GPS units.Maintaining and repairing field equipment.Occasionally leading volunteer activities such as weed control, outplanting, and other fieldwork initiatives.Minimum Qualifications:

At least 6 months of field or volunteer experience in natural resource management in Hawaii, gained through an academic institution, government agency, private company, or non-profit organization.Proficiency in safely using and maintaining landscaping power and hand tools.Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in both team settings and independently for extended periods.Experience navigating remote, off-trail locations.Proficiency in word-processing and spreadsheet software.Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.Ability to safely operate 4WD trucks and ATVs.Capability to perform strenuous fieldwork in extreme weather conditions (muddy, wet, or hot).Physical ability to walk or hike extensively in undeveloped, rocky, or steep terrain while carrying a backpack and lifting up to 50 lbs.Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Biological Science, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, or a related field.Experience in vegetation and/or wildlife monitoring and data collection.Familiarity with herbicide use, weed control techniques, and understanding pesticide labels.Knowledge of threats to native ecosystems and interactions within these systems.Proficiency in identifying Native Hawaiian flora and fauna and using resources such as online tools and taxonomic keys for plant identification.Ability to drive a manual transmission vehicle.Experience with geoprocessing tools, such as GPS units.Knowledge of Hawaiian culture and language.Familiarity with kalo farming.Schedule:
