The successful candidate will develop and teach undergraduate and graduate curriculum in Piano Pedagogy and Piano Performance, pursue scholarship and creative work within the context of an R1 university music program, and contribute to service within the university and the field at large.

Duties & Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities:Provide inclusive vision for piano pedagogy in the School of MusicEducate undergraduate and graduate-level students in piano pedagogyDevelop curriculum for a MM and DMA Minor in piano pedagogy including new graduate-level seminars in piano pedagogyLead community outreach initiatives that foster inclusive public engagementOversee the group piano curriculum and supervise graduate teaching assistantsPursue an innovative research agenda in piano pedagogy leading to visibility at the national and international level.Serve on recital and graduate committeesServe on School/College/University committeesRecruit and mentor students who represent a diverse demographicAdvise UA MTNA Collegiate ChapterEngage with professional service organizationsLead and collaborate effectively with colleagues on events including community outreach and engagement, recruiting, hosting of festivals, and auditionsOther duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

D.M.A or Ph.D. in Piano Pedagogy, Piano Performance, or related field (must be completed by the first day of the contract)Demonstrated success in teaching at the college-level incorporating responsiveness to different needs and strengths of studentsEvidence of promising record of research in piano pedagogy

Preferred Qualifications

Earned doctorate specifically in the field of Piano PedagogyExperience recruiting, advising, and mentoring graduate students who represent a diverse demographicExperience in curriculum development, using new pedagogies and classroom strategies to advance learningExperience in overseeing graduate teaching assistants, establishing an inclusive, productive environmentActive research agenda with viability of national and international visibility
