8/1/2023Details:The University of Utah Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking a highly qualified candidate to join the faculty as an Assistant or Associate Professor on the Tenure Track.Requirements of this position include:Serve as Principal Investigator on extramurally funded grants and contractsParticipate in Emergency Medicine resident and fellow research educationMentor trainees in researchAssist with design, planning, coordination, and evaluation of research projectsCandidates should ideally possess an advanced degree in research (PhD, MS, etc.) or Emergency Medicine research fellowship training, as well as a track record of publications. The successful applicant will combine administrative, research, clinical, and teaching responsibilities. Prior grant funding is not required, but strongly preferred.Candidates will join our research team that has established strong research infrastructure with over 14.0 FTE of dedicated support, and expertise in basic, translational, and clinical research. Our growing research portfolio includes more than 25 active funded research projects, totaling more than $10.5 million in active grant funding. Current research endeavors include large animal translational models for trauma, cardiac arrest and stroke, development of new endovascular therapies for resuscitation, participation in funded projects through the SIREN, LITES, and CTN networks, as well as numerous clinical trials in topic areas such as opioid use disorder treatment, pre-hospital pain management, and investigational devices for seizure/stroke diagnosis and optimization of ventilation. We seek to recruit a motivated individual that will enrich and complete our current portfolio while nurturing our collaborative research endeavors.The University of Utah Hospital is a Level 1 Trauma Center and the Intermountain West’s only academic health care system.
