Position descriptionThe UC Merced Center for Health Equity at the University of California, Merced is seeking a talented and qualified postdoctoral scholar to collaborate and advance health equity in Latino/a/x, immigrant, rural communities in the San Joaquin Valley region.

We are specifically seeking a scholar with demonstrated experience in mixed methods and health equity research with a preference for candidates with a strong commitment to community-engaged research principles. The postdoc will work closely with the PIs on various project activities and research including: Strategic research support for community partners; assisting in literature search and review; facilitating interview and focus group if needed; performing quantitative and/or qualitative analysis;

carrying data mining, analysis, synthesis, visualization and presentation; converting data into reportable formats for presentations; writing reports and disseminating findings; managing the project's database and overall project evaluation; providing qualitative research skill trainings to community partners and/or undergraduate and graduate research assistants; and other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications* Ph.D. in Public Health, Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, Community Health Sciences, Health/Public Policy, or other related social, behavioral, or population science field

* Interest in health equity and rural health research

* Strong methodological and data analysis skills (quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods)

* Highly self-motivated individuals who have demonstrated the ability to conduct independent and collaborative scientific research

* Willingness to mentor and assist undergraduate research assistants

Preferred qualifications* Demonstrated evidence of strong contributions to scholarship, including peer-reviewed publications

* Experience conducting or collaborating on health equity and rural health research studies, particularly investigations with a community-engaged component
