Teach one or more classes in the field of horticulture and/or sustainable agriculture. Teach lecture and lab components of courses to horticulture and/or sustainable agriculture students. Assess student learning and assign course grades.The courses must be taught in accordance with current program approved course descriptions, course outlines, textbooks, and syllabi. Prepare lecture and lesson plans, teach lecture and/or lab portion of class, and respond to and grade student work. an Associate’s degree in Horticulture or related field
AND
5 years of related experience.Desired Qualification(s)Master’s degree or higher in Horticulture or related fieldTeaching experience.Summary of Essential FunctionsTeach lecture and lab portions of the Horticulture course.Observe safety and liability limitation protocols.Prepare for classes and grade student work.Select, prepare and maintain current curriculum, course outlines and instructional materials.Provide instructional support to the students and refer them to specialized services within the College.Deliver course content using a variety of teaching styles.Maintain office/discipline/grade/division records as required by the College.Be available for student consultation through phone or email.Encourage students to submit course evaluations and use feedback to improve course delivery.Revise and update course content as needed.Additional InformationPay Rate: Per Adjunct contract.Location: Grayslake.Total Hours per week: 12 hours per week or less, per class schedule.Work Schedule: Variable by course load.EEO Statement: The College of Lake County is an equal opportunity employer and has a strong commitment to diversity.
