Field Technician (ML)

Since 1954, we have delivered comprehensive engineering and environmental solutions for the most challenging infrastructure planning, design, permitting and construction conditions.We are dedicated to improving our communities, preserving the environment and utilizing the most innovative science practices in all our work.ResponsibilitiesPerform geotechnical field testing and site support.Operate specialized materials testing equipment relating to drilling, excavation, Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD) and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) data collections, among others.Repair and maintain relevant equipment and supplies for project work.Secure tools, supplies and equipment from theft.Interact and communicate with clients, vendors, and staff at all levels.Process GPR and FWD data using computer software.Prepare figures and drawings using AutoCAD software.Perform laboratory testing.RequirementsHigh School Diploma or equivalent5 to 9 years of experience as a field technician or equipment operator.Proficient in mathematics, including Algebra.Ability to lead in an organized, efficient mannerSelf-motivated and ability to work with minimal supervision.Computer and software experience (Word, Excel, AutoCAD) is desirable.Welding and/or mechanical experience is desirable.Ability to stand for long periods, drive, and lift heavy objects continuously, and work in various weather conditions as required for project needs.Must be able to travel away from the home office regularly for project needs.Must work well with others.Level PlacementTypically, depending on an applicant’s education, experience, and other qualifications, a Mid-Level Field/Lab Technician may be placed at a Shannon & Wilson Technical Services III or IV level.Shannon & Wilson offers a competitive benefits package to support our employees.
