Position: Greenhouse Gas and Sustainability AnalystPrince William County will be hiring its first ever Greenhouse Gas and Sustainability Analyst under the Office of Sustainability. The Greenhouse Gas and Sustainability Analyst position will serve as a subject matter expert to develop and manage data systems to track progress towards the achievement of the county’s Climate Mitigation and Resiliency goals.

About This Role:This new full-time position will support implementation of the county’s Community Energy and Sustainability Master Plan (CESMP). This plan focuses on strategies to reduce the county’s greenhouse gas emissions, incorporate renewable energy, and make the county more resilient to the effects of climate change. The plan’s recommendations address county transportation, energy, building efficiency, natural resource protection, and climate adaptation.

The incumbent will be responsible for developing a system to track greenhouse gas emissions, renewable energy, and climate resiliency metrics for actions listed in the CESMP and each action’s contribution to achieving the county’s Climate Mitigation and Resiliency goals.

Work will be conducted under the direct supervision of the Office of Sustainability Director.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSHigh school diploma or G.E.D. and 7 years of professional experience in developing and implementing sustainability programming on a community-wide scale.

Preferences:Master’s degree preferredExperience with developing and managing data tracking systems related to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and/or climate adaptationExperience with coordinating reporting programs that involve multiple agencies or organizationsExperience with developing reports on programs’ greenhouse gas and climate adaptation impactsAbility to present complex technical information in understandable termsHolds a LEED CredentialExperience with greenhouse gas data analysis and reportingExperience with analyzing proposed land use projects for potential environmental impacts

Work Schedule:

Works Monday-Friday between 9am-5pm. May have to attend meetings or events outside of the set work hours a few times a quarter. This position would allow for telework two days a week.

Starting Salary Range:

$82,777.50 - $111,033.00 Annually
