This is an office-centered position*--you must physically report to one of the duty stations stated in this announcement on a regular basis (location TBD after candidate selected).*EPA offers work-from-home and work schedule flexibilities as described in the Benefits section.

NOTE: You must meet qualification requirements, including any requirements described in the Education section, by the closing date of this announcement.

In addition to the basic entry education requirements, you must have specialized experience and/or directly related education as described below:

To qualify for the GS-15 level, you must have 1 year of full-time* specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level defined as directing, advising, and overseeing the day-to-day operations related to administering a comprehensive safety, health and environmental regulatory compliance program designed to protect laboratory and field research staff from hazards in the work environment; developing programmatic policies/guidelines; communicating technical and policy information to internal and external stakeholders.

Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas:

Knowledge of safety, health and environmental compliance, radiation protection, and laboratory safety rules and requirements.

Skill in safety, health, and environmental compliance program management.

Ability to interpret and apply safety, health, and environmental compliance regulations, policies, rules, and guidelines.

Skill in implementing and integrating comprehensive safety health and environmental management programs for laboratory operations and field activities.

Skill in oral communication sufficient to provide guidance and recommendations.

Skill in written communication sufficient to provide guidance and recommendations.

Ability to communicate technical information to individuals from varying professional backgrounds.

Ability to serve as a Contracting Officer's Representative.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
