Division/Program Summary Description:

The mission of the Bureau of Tuberculosis Control is to prevent the spread of tuberculosis and to eliminate it as a public health problem in New York City. The goals to achieve this mission are twofold: 1) To identify all individuals with suspected or confirmed TB disease and ensure appropriate treatment; 2) ensure that individuals at high risk for progression from TB infection to TB disease are identified and treated for TB infection and do not develop TB disease.

The selected candidate will perform the following duties:

DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:

Increase outreach effectiveness through data-driven analysis of TB epidemiology in NYC, identifying areas for intervention and resource allocation.Develop and distribute the TB Action Newsletter and NYC TB Coalition Newsletter quarterly to stakeholders.Provide critical insights and strategies for TB awareness campaigns and community engagement initiatives to elevate TB concerns.Collect and analyze TB patient data for grant-funded outreach initiatives.Engage and collaborate with stakeholders to develop and sustain strategic partnerships aimed at informing and implementing outreach interventions for high TB-risk populations in NYC.Formulate strategic partnerships with community organizations and stakeholders to execute grant-funded initiatives aimed at increasing TB testing accessibility.Produce and QA quarterly data updates for NYS and CDC reporting.Conduct qualitative interviews with patients and partners to evaluate outreach effectiveness and inform program improvements.Assist in the design, implementation, and evaluation of outreach efforts such as community and provider education, targeted materials distribution and education/empowerment of partner organizations.Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders including community-based organizations.

Preferred Skills:

Excellent interpersonal skills with at least one year of increasing responsibility in the planning, coordination and implementation of trainings.Experience in outreach, designing and conducting training needs assessment.Knowledge of basic data management, analysis, outreach and reporting methods.Excellent skills in presentation, organization, and written and oral communication.Participate in special projects as needed and perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:1. For Assignment Level I (only physical, biological and environmental sciences and public health) A master's degree from an accredited college or university with a specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological or environmental science or in public health.To be appointed to Assignment Level II and above, candidates must have:1. A doctorate degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological, environmental or social science and one year of full-time experience in a responsible supervisory, administrative or research capacity in the appropriate field of specialization; or2. A master's degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological, environmental or social science and three years of responsible full-time research experience in the appropriate field of specialization; or3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least a master's degree in an appropriate field of specialization and at least two years of experience described in "2" above. Two years as a City Research Scientist Level I can be substituted for the experience required in "1" and "2" above.

Residency Requirement:New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
