We are targeting candidates that live in or around Middelton, WI. This role will require occasional visits to the Middelton, WI location.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented scientist, industrial hygienist, or health and safety professional to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating the occupational safety and health risks associated with laboratory analysis of a wide range of pharmaceutical products and delivery systems. You will work closely with various departments to support a comprehensive approach to risk management. You will join a dedicated team of EHS professionals and scientists who work every day to improve human health by bringing new medicines to patients.

Key Responsibilities:

Risk Assessment:Conduct comprehensive chemical risk assessments for laboratory personnel testing pharmaceutical products.

Review EHS client questionnaires, clinical brochures, and Safety Data Sheets to determine appropriate categorization/banding for drug products.

Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate identified risks.

Regulatory Compliance:Stay updated on changes in regulations and industry best practices related to chemical safety as it relates to pharmaceutical testing.

Ensure compliance within Risk Assessments with all relevant local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to chemical safety in pharmaceutical testing.

Safety Protocols:Develop and maintain safety-related standard operating procedures (SOPs) for handling and testing chemicals.

Manage and update, as needed, the chemical safety risk assessment process.

Respond to questions from laboratory personnel regarding safe handling practices and emergency response procedures.

Data Analysis and Reporting:Using an established template, prepare detailed risk assessment reports and present findings to stakeholders.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop risk mitigation plans for highly potent/highly toxic materials.

Continuous Improvement:Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance chemical safety and risk assessment processes.

Provide recommendations for process improvements based on risk assessment findings.

Work Environment:

This role requires working in both office and laboratory settings. The candidate must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed. Occasional travel may be required.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor degree in Chemistry, Toxicology, Pharmacology, Industrial Hygiene or a related field (Master degree preferred).

Experience in chemical risk assessment, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry.

Familiarity with standard laboratory equipment and processes.

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

An ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Occupational Health and Safety experience.

Experience with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and/or Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

Familiarity with pharmaceutical testing methodologies and laboratory environments.

Familiarity with safe work practices for highly potent pharmaceutical products.

Familiarity with Occupational Exposure Banding (OEB).
