Senior Sommelier – Tavernetta Vail
Four Seasons Vail is excited to launch the collaboration of Four Seasons and Frasca Hospitality Group to create Tavernetta Vail. We seek to continue this expansion here with the opening of Tavernetta Vail by hiring enthusiastic, ambitious, and humble staff to uphold a culture of excellence, education, and respect.
About The Role:
The primary responsibility of the Tavernetta Vail Senior Sommelier is to set the team up for successful service through proper maintenance of the administrative duties of the wine program. Additional tasks include completing monthly inventory and weekly ordering for the beverage program, along with day-to-day operations of the restaurant.
What You Will Do:
Develop and maintain the wine program within Tavernetta Vail.
Ensure beverage requisitions are accurately completed and submitted each night.
Check BEOs for private party orders - ensure wines are in stock for upcoming parties.
Communicate with the Purchasing Department on all wine product needs or issues.
Train team members on new products.
Inform team about items that are no longer available or have changed.
Wine Menu Management:
Ensure accurate wine lists are printed.
Communicate daily 86s and additions to GM/AGM.
Update website with current wine list weekly.
Communicate wine list needs/gaps with General Manager.
Inventory:
Being present for inventory each month is mandatory.
Process inventory from beginning to end and submit it to the General Manager for review.
Leadership:
Maintain a positive attitude before and during service.
Spearhead education in pre-service, study sessions, and monthly classes.
Assist the entire FOH team during service.
Communication:
Communicate effectively with the General Manager.
Set an out of office reply when leaving town.
Maintain strong communication with all management.
What You Bring:
Must have passed or be pursuing the Advanced Certification from the Court of Master Sommeliers or have equivalent certification and/or experience.
Willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
Strong teamwork and mentorship skills.
Understanding of inventory, purchasing, beverage, and invoice reconciliation.
Fluency in English is required; bilingual in Italian/Spanish is a plus.
Must be able to stand for 8+ hours.
Preferred Qualifications:
Proficiency with email, OneDrive, Excel, and Word.
Minimum five years in the F&B industry with three years in a Sommelier role.
Italian wine & culinary knowledge.
Strong ability to multitask.
