Senior Corporate Counsel - (Hybrid-Aliso Viejo, CA or Remote, USA – West Coast

Compensation: $155,000 - $175,000 per year. You are eligible to a Short-Term Incentive Plan with the target at 20% of your annual earnings, terms and conditions apply.
Senior Corporate Counsel - (Hybrid-Aliso Viejo, CA or Remote, USA – West Coast Preferred)The Sr. Corporate Counsel is responsible for advising the company on all aspects of employment law. Reporting directly to the General Counsel, the Sr. Corporate Counsel will work closely with Human Resources as well as other business functions to proactively identify and implement practical business solutions to assist the company in achieving its goals in a legal and compliant manner. While the primary function of the Sr. Corporate Counsel is employment law, the Sr. Corporate Counsel will also manage intellectual property matters with the support of outside counsel. Candidates wishing to work remote or hybrid remote are welcome to apply, but local candidates (Aliso Viejo, CA) are preferred.
Essential Functions:Advise the company and senior leadership on a broad range of federal and state employment regulatory and compliance matters.Provide day-to-day proactive employment law advice, assistance and counseling on employment matters including hiring, leaves, wage and hour and commission compliance, disciplinary actions, and termination.Recommend, implement and continuously improve employment law related policies and trainings.Stay abreast of new employment laws impacting the company, and advise the company on how to maintain compliance in a business-friendly manner.Partner with outside counsel to grow and maintain IP portfolio (primarily trademarks).Perform other functions as may be directed by the General Counsel.Qualifications:4+ years of combined top law firm and/or in-house experience.Strong background in California employment law.Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and bar admission California required.Credibility and presence to interact with and present at senior executive levels internally and externally.Superior problem-solving skills and legal judgment, highest ethical standards, and a desire to take initiative.A team player who works well in a dynamic and hands-on operating environment.Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.Possess a high level of professionalism and outstanding business judgment.A collaborative approach to legal problem solving and being able to effectively counsel internal clients by providing them with clear and concise practical advice as well as creative solutions.Ability to think quickly, prioritize, and manage multiple high-profile projects in a demanding environment while maintaining a calm, professional, and level-headed demeanor.Ability to build relationships across the company, supporting the Legal team in achieving outcomes and solving challenges, and leading efforts to effective and efficient decision-making.Preferred:Prior in-house experience preferred.Prior trademark experience preferred.Prior healthcare company experience preferred.About Us:Ambry Genetics Corporation is a CAP-accredited and CLIA-licensed molecular genetics laboratory based in Aliso Viejo, California.
