Job Description SummaryThe General Counsel, Electrical Power will provide primary legal support to the GE Aerospace Electrical Power business within the Defense & Systems division of GE Aerospace. GE Aerospace’s military business has supported the United States and Allied customers for over 75 years. Electrical Power is one of four business units within Defense & Systems, along with Avionics, Defense Engines, and Edison Works.GE Aerospace’s Electrical Power business is based in Cincinnati, Ohio, and is an industry leader in power generation, distribution, conversion, and control. Our Electrical Power offerings are critical to enabling hybrid-electric flight and electric propulsion systems.The successful candidate will collaborate with Legal & Compliance colleagues, functional support groups, and business teams to enable compliant business growth, invent the future of flight, and deliver cutting-edge products to the warfighter. Preference is given for a candidate with a TS security clearance who is able to work from Cincinnati or Dayton, Ohio; however, consideration will be given to candidates in Washington, D.C.. This position reports to the General Counsel, Defense & Systems.Roles and ResponsibilitiesProvide general counsel support to the General Manager, Electrical Power, and staffProvide leaders, stakeholders, and colleagues with expert, practical legal and business advice on complex commercial and US Government contracting issuesCollaborate with GE Aerospace colleagues to ensure appropriate, timely expertise is leveraged for the businessHelp shape both strategic and tactical actions within regulatory boundaries to maximize value for customersProvide functional legal support for Electrical Power Sourcing operationsKeep the business safe in a highly scrutinized regulatory environmentDeliver specialized government contracts and regulatory counseling for functional organizations that support business segments selling to the US GovernmentDevelop relationships with external customer and regulatory counsels, including civil airframer and government agency counselLead compliance investigations and initiativesUnder minimal supervision, plan, conduct and supervise complex legal assignments, requiring an ability to evaluate matters that may have a significant bearing on GE Aerospace’s businessManage referral of matters to in-house legal specialists and occasionally outside counselLead with unyielding integrityOperate with a bias toward speed and simplicityEmbrace Flight Deck – GE Aerospace’s proprietary Lean operating system. Uses Flight Deck principles to simplify processes and reduce cycle time, including standard work, action planning, and problem solvingAnticipate and drive solutions for unassigned legal and business issues and growth initiativesRequired QualificationsJD from an accredited law school10+ years’ experience in Commercial and US Government contract law with a focus on FAR Part 15 contractingMember in good standing with the barMust be a United States CitizenAbility to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret U.S. Government Security clearanceDesired CharacteristicsExperience advising clients on commercial risk issuesExperience with DoD Business Systems requirementsKnowledge of DoD pricing requirements such as Truthful Cost or Pricing Data, FAR cost principles, and Cost Accounting StandardsUnderstanding of Export Control restrictions including ITAR and EARExperience regarding DoD data security requirements including CUI and CMMCIn-house experienceAbility to collaborate among all levels of the commercial organization and businessStrong time management, prioritization, analytical, and organizational skills, with ability to meet deadlines and achieve desired resultsExcellent customer relationship, communication, and interpersonal skillsAdaptable and capable of managing multiple initiatives, both collaboratively and independentlyHumility, transparency, and focusDemonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problemsThis role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
