Scope of role

The EHS Manager works with and through management to ensure compliance with safety, environmental, health and security procedures. Possesses a deep knowledge of occupational health, safety, hygiene, security, environmental, and sustainability issues, including federal, state, and local regulations. Uses every opportunity to drive EHS awareness by demonstrating safe behavior, continuous self-development and education in areas of environmental, health & safety compliance, industry trends and regulatory developments.

Key Responsibilities

Establishes and enforces the safety program in compliance with safety standards and regulations.

Continuously evaluates and upgrades the safety programs including near miss prevention.

Coordinates, plans and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and ISO 1400 and 45001 registrations.

Completes safety hazard assessments of existing and new or revised processes and equipment.

Coordinates regular toolbox talks and provides the materials to be used.

Schedules and facilitates the Safety Team meetings, including safety walks to identify potential hazards in selected areas.

Plays a vital role in emergency preparedness and response coordination.

Documents, schedules and conducts training for all employees on safety procedures as relevant to their job descriptions, work instructions, hazard assessments and overall prevention of accidents or work-related injuries.

Plans and implements training for employees in general work site safety practices in alignment with ISO, legal compliance and STE’s yearly training program.

Performs safety audits, surveys and inspections. Prepares written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective or preventive measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented through the documented corrective action process.

Conducts post-accident investigations and prepares reports identifying possible accident causes and hazards for use by company personnel and senior management.

Tracks and reports OSHA-required forms/metrics, including TRIR, DART, and OSHA 300 records.

Maintains STE safety files and records.

Advises leadership team on safety compliance concerns and preventative actions.

Analyzes work environments to improve sustainability practices.

Develops and maintains environmental reports including storm water permits, SPCC, etc. in compliance with ISO 14000 and/or any compliance requirements.

Assists with compliance of EHS requirements for new product or equipment introduction.

Helps develop and monitors the 6s program.

Problem solves and communicates effectively with work team.

Contributes ideas for continuous improvement of workflow and processes.

Follows all safety guidelines and procedures.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a technical, engineering and/or environmental health and safety related field.

In depth formal knowledge of OSHA and EPA standards.

In depth ISO 14000 / ISO 18000/45000 experience.

Minimum of 10 years of experience in a related field.

Ability to accurately assess key business metrics related to safety and function and correlate to key projects and financial outcomes.

Familiarity with manufacturing process relevant to STE desired (sheet metal and welding).

Bilingual English/Spanish desired.

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and governmental regulations.

Ability to write reports, business correspondence and QMS/ISO procedures.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public related to EHS topics.

Pay: $92,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
