DescriptionThe Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Texas A&M University invites applications for a tenured or tenure-track faculty position at the Associate Professor level. The department will consider individuals with demonstrated expertise and experience in the area of light-weight materials, materials for extreme environments (in particular Corrosion Science and Engineering), and Friction Stir Processing for space applications.The successful applicant will be required to teach, advise and mentor graduate students; develop an independent, externally funded research program; participate in all aspects of the department’s activities, and serve the profession. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required. Applicants must have, at the minimum, an earned doctoral degree in materials science and engineering or a closely related engineering or science discipline.Department Info:The Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Texas A&M is one of the top 5 largest materials science and engineering departments in the country in terms of student enrollment. This multidisciplinary Department includes full-time faculty and joint and affiliated faculty members from several disciplines, including aerospace engineering, biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, chemistry, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, nuclear engineering, and physics.
