This position ensures the organization, planning, direction and control of EHS for the Evonik Production Site in both Janesville and Milton. The incumbent supervises 1 Senior Principal Environmental Specialist and 1 Safety Coordinator. The position provides the technical direction, expertise and leadership to maintain and continuously improve the EHS processes in order to minimize risk and ensure that the processes comply with regulations to guarantee the desired plant customer requirements. It is essential that the EHS Manager collaborate effectively with other members of the Site Management Team. EHS Manager must have effective communication and coordination skills to interact with the Site Head, site support functions such as Quality, Production, Supply Chain, R&D, Continuous Improvement, Engineering and Maintenance as well as external to the site such as Procurement, Controlling, Sales & Marketing and Auditing functions.RESPONSIBILITIESEnvironmental, Health and SafetyResponsible for creating a safety culture that it is everyone’s individual value to work safely.Ensure all employees, contractors and visitors follow all Evonik EHS policies.Manage Industrial Hygiene activities.Responsible for all employees following all federal, state and local laws and regulations. Examples: OSHA PSM, RMP, RC 14001, ACC, EPA Clean Air Act Title V, RCRA, Large Quantity Generator Hazardous Waste, OCPSF, local POTW.Responsible to conduct RCA on all required incidents and that reporting requirements are met.Responsible to complete Hazardous waste requirements.Responsible to ensure PSM procedure is followed.Responsible to ensure all reporting is submitted on time.Responsible to ensure all required employees are HAZWOPER Technician trained.Continuous ImprovementResponsible to ensure all safety, environment, health and security procedures are followed so that production is done in a safe manner.Responsible to determine root causes for variations, develop and implement action items.Responsible to identify opportunities for improvements and drive implementation, especially in waste minimization.Responsible to develop group to a TPM culture.People DevelopmentFosters a positive work environment characterized by an atmosphere of mutual respect, trust, accountability and open communication.Responsible to ensure Environmental and Safety Coordinator are trained appropriately for the position.Responsible to seek and hire replacements as required.Ensures that all employees follow policies and procedures.Ensure annual reviews are completed as required.Security ManagementLeads and manages site security program.REQUIREMENTSBachelor's Degree in Environmental, Chemistry, Engineering or other Science required.Skilled in a variety of areas such as: Safety leadership, Team leadership, technical and analytical skills, SAP, general computer skills, Environmental knowledge, PSM and RMP.Five years of experience in Safety and/or Environmental and/or Engineering roles in chemical manufacturing.Previous managerial experience preferred.Your ApplicationTo ensure that your application is processed as quickly as possible and to protect the environment, please apply online via our careers portal.
