Instructor, Veterinary Technology, Foothill College.The Foothill - De Anza Community College District does not have a remote work policy. All employees are expected to be available to work in person and on-site per the requirement of the department.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION INCLUDE:Under the direction of the Dean of Health Sciences and Horticulture, the primary role of the fulltime Veterinary Technology Instructor is to teach veterinary technology students on various subjects in lecture and laboratory settings. These veterinary technicians in training must learn both didactic and skills-based information, with an emphasis on critical thinking and clinical application of knowledge.Responsibilities will include demonstrating competency and comfortability teaching lecture and hands-on lab courses with live animals which may include but are not limited to anatomy and physiology, radiology, beginning and advanced nursing skills, anesthesia and surgery, large animal skills, pharmacology, emergency medicine, animal behavior, and other topics.The program emphasizes low stress handling and fear-free methods in all animals. The ideal candidate will have the ability to implement multiple active learning strategies and positively interact with a diverse student population using a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion lens. The ability to bring real-world experiences and techniques into the classroom is expected.The secondary role of the full-time faculty is to oversee animal care. This includes:Overseeing care of program animals including but not limited to evaluation of program animals.Overseeing day-to-day husbandry of the program animals as well as the students who are caring for the program animals.Taking student communications on weekends and holidays regarding animal wellbeing.Overseeing program animal housing.Participating in program-specific committees and regulatory compliance (Advisory Board, IACUC, USDA, CVTEA, California VMB).Overseeing students' care of animals including routine dropping in and immediate feedback on students’ performances.Standard duties expected of all faculty include development and evaluation of curricula, maintaining scheduled office hours, attending department and division meetings, pursuing professional growth activities, and performing other duties consistent with the role of an instructor. We are looking for a dynamic educator who is sensitive to students’ different learning styles and educational needs.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, disability, and sexual orientation of community college students, faculty, and staff.Any bachelor’s degree or higher and two years of professional experience, or any associate degree and six years of professional experience related to the teaching assignment.Graduate of an AVMA accredited veterinary technology program

AND
