To be eligible for consideration, you must first meet the

Basic Education Requirement

for this position, having a:Degree: Biological sciences, agriculture, natural resources management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

To qualify at the

GS-07 , you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-05 level in federal service having demonstrated experience supporting natural resources or biological science activities such as:Serving as a team member making examinations for land use, protected species, or other natural resource problems;Collecting samples and assisting in the identification and assessment of problems;Compiling and summarizing data from surveys or biological evaluations;Checking resulting data for inconsistencies, providing preliminary results and reports to senior professionals.

You could otherwise qualify on the basis of Education having one year of graduate-level education in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position, OR superior academic achievement.

To qualify at the

GS-09 , you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-07 level in federal service having demonstrated experience performing complete, small-scope assignments, or portions of larger assignments, involving environmental compliance planning, developing, evaluating, and implementing proposals for land, species, or resource management activities, including planning, conducting, and analyzing the work, developing preliminary conclusions, presenting the data, and preparing summary reports.

You could otherwise qualify on the basis of Education having two years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree OR master's or equivalent graduate degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

To qualify at the

GS-11 , you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-09 level in federal service having demonstrated experience using professional concepts, principles, and practices of environmental or natural resources sciences as they relate to a water-based resources operation, such as a lake or river; experience analyzing environmental conditions and preparing environmental documentation such as environmental impact statements, environmental assessments, etc.; experience substantiating environmental practices or conditions against statutes, such as NEPA, ESA, etc.; experience in dealing with related disciplines, such as fish and wildlife management, or natural resources management; experience in project management and project coordination activities as it relates to an environmental program, dam operations, or water resources management.

You could otherwise qualify on the basis of Education having three years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree OR Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
