Responsibilities - Assistant Professor and Director of Field for Social Work

Participates in the overall design and development of the Phylis Lan Lin’s Department of Social Work curriculum.

Develops and implements field related policies in collaboration with the BSW and MSW Program Directors and department faculty.

Works in collaboration with the BSW and MSW Program Directors and department faculty to ensure students are eligible for practicum placements.

Prepares students for the pre-placement process by hosting an informational session for practicum candidates each semester.

Meets with candidates individually to begin the placement process by completing pre-placement forms, surveys, and interviews (internal and external).

Works in collaboration with the University’s Pro Edge program to ensure students are prepared with resume and interviewing skills for placements.

Develops and secures student placements with established practicum sites.

Oversees the implementation of a field orientation for students, agencies, and field instructors each semester.

Coordinates all core performance and corrective action plan reviews in field education and consults with the BSW or MSW Director if disciplinary action is required.

Monitors student placements at practicum sites for the BSW Program and oversees student placements at practicum sites for the MSW Program.

Assists in the organization and delivery of the practicum seminar courses.

Collects, organizes and maintains updated information on practicum sites (database/software).

Ensures affiliation agreements and contracts are completed and signed by sites.

Collects, records, and assesses student outcomes data (i.e., evaluations) for CSWE and program reporting.

Assists the BSW and MSW Program Directors with CSWE accreditation documentation for field curriculum development and assessment.

Provides continued training and oversees field instructors for the BSW program and provides continuing oversight to field liaisons for the MSW program.

Conducts and/or ensures regular site visits are conducted, both in person and virtually.

Develops new practicum sites.

Provides academic advising to BSW students.

Provides and/or ensures sustained supervision to students when practicum sites are unable to provide it, as needed.

Verifies practicum completion for the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency when former students are seeking licensure.

Ensures any CSWE and/or legislative mandates regarding social work practice and licensure are integrated into social work field curriculum and develops instructional tools for practicum sites and supervisors.

Qualifications - Assistant Professor and Director of Field for Social Work

The field education director has at least a master’s degree in social work from a CSWE-accredited program and at least two years of post-master’s social work degree practice experience in social work. A DSW or PhD in social work preferred, or DBA by August 2025.

The field education director has the ability to provide leadership to the field education program through practice experience, field instruction experience, and/or administrative or other relevant academic and professional activities in social work.

Excellent communication skills and writing skills.

Teaching experience required.

Established community partnerships and/or the ability to forge partnerships with community service providers.

A valid driver’s license.
