Geologist – Job DescriptionScout Energy is a private energy investment firm that acquires, operates, and improves upstream conventional oil and gas properties for institutional investors. Scout’s business is both the management of the private energy funds and the operations of the oil and gas assets it owns. The current employee base is approximately 1200 with 200 employees in the Dallas (headquarters) office.
Scout Energy is seeking a petroleum geologist to conduct detailed geological studies of oil and gas assets with the primary goal of identifying value adding projects and providing geological support to on-going well work. This position will report to the Vice President of Operations as a part of the exploitation group within the division.
Duties & Responsibilities
Conduct detailed geological studies of oil and gas assets in conjunction with reservoir and operational studies by team members
Document regional geology, reservoir depositional environment and lithology, petrophysical properties of the reservoir, etc.
Create and utilize structure maps, isopach maps, X-sections, etc. to determine oil in place and identify opportunities to increase production or improve reservoir management
Document all technical support for drilling, recompletion, stimulation, secondary recovery, enhanced oil recovery, reservoir management improvement opportunities, etc.
Communicate asset study findings with technical team and management using both technical reports and presentations; technical reports and presentations also serve to organize study for future reference
Provide geological support to operations and exploitation engineers during implementation of both projects identified through asset studies and ancillary projects
Conduct high level geological studies of potential acquisition targets and offset operator activity
Skills & Specifications
Ability to work collaboratively and effectively within a multi-disciplinary technical team and with all levels of the organization
Strong project management skills with ability to manage time-sensitive projects with a positive and determined attitude
Team player with intellectual curiosity, a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, an innovative bent, and persistent attention to detail
Excellent writing, analytical, and presentation skills
