On-Call (Temporary) Archaeologists
who are based in the San Francisco Bay Area.Job DescriptionThe On-Call/Temporary Archaeologist will assist senior archaeologists primarily in fieldwork, with tasks including survey, testing, evaluation, data recovery, and construction monitoring. Other duties could include laboratory analysis, conducting background research, assistance with report preparation, and other tasks as assigned. This position requires excellent field skills, the ability to identify precontract and historic-period artifacts, and taking detailed field notes. Travel for up to 10 days may be involved, and work will occur outdoors under all weather conditions.What You Must HaveBachelor's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or related field2+ years of field experience in archaeological monitoring and surveyMust have valid driver’s license and successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check.What We Would Like You To HaveField experience in Sacramento Area CountiesAbility to communicate and coordinate effectively with ICF senior staff and construction personnelKnowledge and familiarity with computers and smart devices is criticalBackground in precontact or historic-period archaeology is requiredAbility to conduct field visits at locations throughout Sacramento County, Central Valley and Northern CA.Cross training in paleontological monitoringMission-era experience or trainingOsteology experience or trainingActive 40-hour HAZWOPER trainingThis is an outstanding opportunity to work with talented and passionate individuals and to grow with a firm that believes in nurturing talent and developing long-term career success.
