Applicants are invited to affiliate with the newly formed Institute for Race, Gender, Sexuality, and Social Justice. We seek a specialist in interdisciplinary or intersectional studies, multicultural and ethnic studies, Black studies, women's and gender studies, sexuality studies, or related area. Standard teaching load is 3 courses per semester in both online and on-ground modalities. Field is open, with tenure home possible in Sociology/Anthropology, English, History, Human Development Counseling/Social Work, or Art/Music/Theatre. Responsibilities include working with students within interdisciplinary programs above. Engagement with the campus community is expected and presence in the local community is strongly encouraged and valued.Minimum Qualifications:Ph.D. by August 2024 in a relevant discipline in the humanities, social sciences, arts, or related transdisciplinary fields. Specialization in interdisciplinary or intersectional studies, multicultural and ethnic studies, women and gender studies, sexuality studies, or related area.Duties & Responsibilities:Teaching:

LIS 301 (Self-Directed Learning) or LIS 303 (Introduction to Liberal Studies), LIS 451 (Senior Seminar), Liberal Studies Electives, and university requirements (ECCE, CAP, and/or first-year seminar). AAS core courses or crosslist, or crosslist to WGS are possible.Scholarship:

Interdisciplinary and public-facing scholarship, including presentations, publication/creative work, etc. as expected of UIS tenure-track faculty.Service:

Service to the home department and/or Institute, including participation in governance, potential for grant-writing, community outreach/engagement, and possible internship coordination.Preferred Qualifications:Public-facing scholarship; online and on-ground teaching experience in interdisciplinary programs or cross-listed courses; mentoring of non-traditional or returning college students in addition to traditional college students; prior program administration experience (program-building, community outreach, grant writing, etc.)Contact:Located in the state capital, the University of Illinois Springfield is one of three members of the University of Illinois system.
