Job Description SummaryProvides program oversight and strategic direction for the environmental management system at a highly complex production facility or at multiple production facilities. Drives technical solutions and provides leadership and direction for environmental aspects of plant operations, including engineering and maintenance projects. Oversees and drives results to meet sustainable development program goals and objectives. Oversee and supervise Environmental Manager I and/or junior level environmental professionals. Participate in development of corporate environmental management system program and roll out implementation plans to establish an effective environmental management program at each facility within region.

Job DescriptionPeople Development Responsibilities

Professional coaching/mentoring

Alignment/standardization to corporate standards

Mentor and train junior environmental staff

Ensure all facility staff receive appropriate environmental training

Program Responsibilities

Represents LW internally & externally as environmental subject matter expert (SME)

Oversees environmental activity at high-complexity or multiple production facilities

Consistent implementation of LW corporate policies/standards

Monitors & communicates impending regulatory changes in conjunction with corp. ENV leadership

Provides overall direction for environmental performance consistent with corporate policies & standards

Co-owner of the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) pillar with onsite Safety Manager

Targets objectives at each site and drives to sites Compelling Business Need (CBN)

Develop environmental risk register at each site

Communicate potential risks to facility operations leadership and corporate environmental leadership based on evaluation of environmental data

Owner of environmental KPIs and strategic plans

Guide process of environmental audit/regulatory inspection preparedness

Ensures environmental data are collected and evaluated to identify trends & potential areas for risk reduction

Retains/project manages environmental consultants

Environmental engineering/capital planning:

Work with corp. and plant environmental/engineering resources to develop environmental capital plan

Work with corp. and plant environmental/engineering resources to identify potential environmental impacts from capital investment projects as well as R&M projects

Work with corp. and plant environmental/engineering resources on ongoing environmental and water treatment capitals

Process safety management

Ensure corporate and regulatory required programs are being managed, supported and fulfilled in coordination with facility engineering and safety management

Support sustainable development initiatives and goals

Support permitting processes and dealings with regulators

Participate in environmental audit process at other facilities

Basic & Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Sciences (Engineering, Biology or Chemistry)

Masters in Engineering or Science preferred

Licensed Professional Engineer preferred

6 – 12 years progressive experience in the environmental/engineering field

Expert knowledge of all environmental regulations and their impact on the food industry

Excellent leadership skills

Excellent presentation skills

Experience with acquisitions/divestitures

Experience with developing engineering scope for new equipment to fulfill compliance needs

Position will require ability to travel as needed to fulfill responsibilities. Annual travel may range up to 25%.

Equipment Operation:

Expert knowledgeable of operational practices for environmental control systems on water supply, wastewater, air pollution and solid waste. Provide expertise to plant operators to successfully manage and operate equipment to meet permit requirements. Understanding of food processing sanitation and quality control needs in manufacturing consumer food products.

Physical Demands:Ability to work in office environment, manufacturing operations and environmental control systems.

Ability to represent Lamb Weston on environmental matters to outside stakeholders.

Position will require ability to travel as needed to fulfill responsibilities. Annual travel may range up to 25%.

A reasonable annual estimate of the range for this role based on the variables previously mentioned is: $98,770.00 - $148,160.00
