JOB SUMMARY:

In the position of Senior Tea and Beverage & Food Application Scientist, you are responsible for driving solutions for customers’ projects. You have a passion for identifying solutions and taking action to bring ideas to fruition, and are accountable for developing new tea systems, beverage systems, finished applications, and product innovations to solve for customer opportunities. You will assist in the creation of effective processes for manufacturing new and existing products. You are critical to achieving FFP’s financial goals by collaborating with teammates in Operations, Commercial, and Creation and Applications. You will drive projects to success.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintain a safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules, regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices, and Good Laboratory Practices.

Manage customer projects and act as technical support for internal initiatives including development of diverse beverage & food offerings including functional beverages, alternative adult beverages, tea/botanicals, flavored syrups, and dairy-based applications.

Formulate and prepare laboratory scale tea systems, beverages, and finished applications.

Run trials using benchtop equipment, pilot plant equipment (including MicroThermics unit), and external partners.

Perform material inspections/analysis of ingredients, work in progress, and finished products.

Develop beverage systems which showcase FFP flavors, ingredients, and technologies as integrated solution systems.

Project management: manage customer briefs and champion required actions to meet the project success criteria.

Participate in work sessions with customers at FFP and at customer locations.

Maintain knowledge of beverage client’s strategies, brands, and products.

Maintain laboratory and sample inventory of ingredients and supplies.

Maintain laboratory equipment.

Gather product or ingredient-related information from vendors.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

10 years of experience with a bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering, or related field.

5 years’ experience in beverage & food development, preferably with tea experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to maintain a sustained posture in a seated position for prolonged periods of time and operate computer equipment.

Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time while working in the lab.

Ability to work in a production environment.

Ability to travel to customer locations, FFP facilities, testing facilities, and trade shows.

Ability to lift 25 lbs.
