Tenure Faculty PositionsTenure faculty (regardless of rank) - persons with the titles of professor, associate professor, assistant professor, and instructor who serve on appointments totaling 50% or more service to the university and who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. Duties and responsibilities are assigned in accordance with the workload guidelines laid out in the pattern of administration of each faculty member's tenure initiation unit (TIU) and, as appropriate, regional campus; obligations will include research, service, and/or teaching or clinical practice. These faculty will have earned a doctorate or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study or possession of equivalent experience.Open Rank Faculty Positions in Department of Physiology & Cell Biology at The Ohio State University College of MedicineThe Department of Physiology & Cell Biology in The Ohio State University College of Medicine is initiating an open rank search for outstanding scientists for tenure track faculty positions at the Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor levels. The department provides a highly collaborative research and educational environment with strengths in multiple aspects of cell biology and physiology, including cell signaling, cytoskeletal actin/myosin function, regulation of ion fluxes, striated muscle structure and function, cardiovascular diseases, metabolic function, inflammation, and regulation of lung pathobiology. Excellent candidates in areas related to skeletal muscle, pulmonary, or cardiac physiology will be considered.Minimum RequirementsThe minimum requirements for the position are a Ph.D., D.V.M., and/or M.D. degree, a commitment to basic and/or translational research, a strong history of scholarly productivity, and evidence of excellent potential to maintain an externally funded, independent research program. Applicants with current extramural funding in the form of transition to faculty grants or established investigators with existing funding will show evidence of such potential. Individuals will also be evaluated on their ability to establish or maintain innovative independent research programs as well as develop collaborative areas of focus with existing programs. Individuals with strong communication and interpersonal skills along with teaching experience are preferred. Excellence in teaching at the undergraduate, graduate, and professional student level is a priority in the department.Application ProcessApplications should include a detailed curriculum vitae, a description of research experience (up to one page), and a statement concerning the nature of the planned independent research program (up to two pages).
