The Hun School of Princeton seeks a dynamic and creative

Assistant Cheerleading Coach

who reports to the Head Cheerleading Coach and Co-Directors of Athletics.

The Hun School Athletic Program is proud of our education through athletics. We have a strong athletic tradition at Hun, but

success

is broadly defined. Competition and winning are important aspects of any program, but do not control the scope of our athletic philosophy. The measurement of success will not be judged by the tangible evidence of victory or defeat, but by the intangible personal development and shared memories that make the effort and experience worthwhile.

Responsibilities:Serve as the Assistant Cheerleading Coach for students in grades 9-12 during both the fall sideline season and the winter competition season.Collaborate with the Head Varsity Cheerleading Coach to support all aspects of the program, including but not limited to:Developing and implementing practice plans that focus on skill development, team building, and potential choreography, with an emphasis on proper stunt technique, tumbling, jumps, and overall cheerleading fundamentals.Providing instruction and demonstration of techniques essential for individual improvement and team success, including advanced stunting progressions, safe tumbling practices, and sharp, clean motions in all cheerleading elements.Supervision and spotting of athletes during stunting and tumbling to ensure proper technique and safety.Overseeing the proper use, upkeep, and inventory of equipment and uniforms, ensuring timely communication with the Co-Directors about any needs or concerns.Staying up to date on the latest cheerleading safety standards and certifications, including NFHS (National Federation of State High School Associations) guidelines and USA Cheer safety protocols, to create a safe environment for all participants.Assisting with administrative tasks such as attendance, record-keeping, and logistical support for practices and competitions.Creating a positive, safe, and supportive environment for all athletes, in alignment with the school's mission and values.Collaborate effectively with co-directors, families, and other stakeholders to ensure a cohesive program and maintain open lines of communication.Promote the cheerleading program within the school and the broader community, helping to attract new talent and support school admissions efforts.Participate actively in the Hun School community beyond the cheerleading program, contributing to the vibrant life of the school through involvement in events, activities, and other responsibilities.

Qualifications:A minimum of a Bachelor's degree.A minimum of 2-5 years coaching experience; at a High School or College is preferred.Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop strong relationships with students, staff, parents, alumni, and community members.Ability to foster a positive team spirit as well as individual skill improvement.Availability to work a flexible schedule that includes some nights and weekends.First Aid and CPR training - or have the ability to be trained.A love for working with young people and a commitment to a diverse and inclusive community.A desire to contribute to school life outside of the classroom on a lively boarding school campus.ABOUT THE HUN SCHOOLThe Hun School of Princeton is a co-educational, private day and boarding school in Princeton, New Jersey.
