The Darden School of Business has an exciting opportunity for a professional librarian to lead Darden's Camp Library. The

Director, Darden Camp Library

provides strategic leadership, direction, and oversight of the Camp Library. This position directs the overall administration, program planning, policy budget, and resource allocation for the Camp Library. The Director will provide a vision for the library that responds to students’ needs in research projects and their employment search, provides research support to faculty, provides excellent leadership, and promotes the library as an integral part of the Darden community.This position will work in partnership with library staff, UVA Shannon library, faculty, Darden research centers, and the Office of Research Services to encourage and facilitate research, scholarship, and professional service. The position will also partner with the Career Development Center to support students in preparing for their career search. This position will represent Darden to the University and Charlottesville community.Responsibilities:

Provide overall direction, management, and leadership of the Camp Library. Provide leadership in all library operations including staffing, program development, and space planning.Leads the library staff to develop and administer a broad set of library services and programs that support the teaching, learning, and research missions of the Darden School at the University of Virginia.Collaborates and coordinates with other library services across the university.Manages the collections, resources, and services to meet the needs of Darden students, faculty, and staff. This includes managing the purchasing of new items, identifying resources that can be cancelled, and opportunities for cost-sharing partnerships within Darden, UVA, and the Commonwealth of Virginia.Monitors trends in technology and analyzes their viability in the Camp Library and develops new applications for Library operations and services.Maintains strong relationships with key internal stakeholders (Darden faculty and students) to ensure Camp Library services are meeting their needs for research, job searches, and other activities.Supports graduate students at Darden’s campuses in Charlottesville and Northern Virginia (Sands Family Grounds) through remote and in-person collaboration.Implements mechanisms to track the impact of faculty research through services such as Web of Science or Google Scholar.Represents the Camp Library within UVA and globally in professional and/or academic communities.Provides professional guidance as a reference librarian by offering consultations, conducting subject-specific research strategy meetings, and offering extended reference support for research projects, specialized classes, and Darden programs.Education and Professional Experience:

Master's degree in Library Science or other academic discipline and experience as a Library Manager.Seven years of relevant experience required; including 5 years of supervisory/management experience.Experience and demonstrated skill managing and motivating high-performing teams.Knowledge of, and deep experience with collection development and management (print and electronic) and facility with tools necessary to manage the selection and delivery of resources.Demonstrated awareness of current and emerging trends in academic business libraries.Ability to create innovative services as needed.Evidence of competence in strategic planning and introducing and managing change in complex environments, along with budget planning and administration, human resources management, promoting marketing and brand awareness, database contract negotiations, and management in complex organizations.Strong interpersonal skills to build and sustain interpersonal relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, and customers.Evidence of analytical, organizational, communication, project, and time management skills.Demonstrated ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and complete tasks and projects on time and within budget.Commitment to a customer-centered service model that is responsive to and anticipates the distinctive needs of faculty, students, and alumni.Familiarity with business databases, such as Bloomberg and Pitchbook, strongly preferred.To Apply:
