Salary CommensurateJob Summary/Basic Function:The Department of Earth and Space Sciences at Lamar University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Structural Geology beginning Fall 2024. Candidates for Assistant Professor should have a PhD or anticipated PhD completion in Geology or other closely related geoscience program specializing in structural geology by August 2024. The search is open with regard to research specialty, although the Department of Earth and Space Sciences is especially interested in scholars whose research and teaching interests include Tectonics, Engineering Geology, Geochemistry, Geodesy, or Geochronology. The successful candidate will teach both lecture and labs, conduct research in Structural Geology, Geochemistry, or Geomorphology, and participate in field work by teaching or aiding in teaching Summer Field Camp, Field Geology of Texas, or a Field Methods course.What You’ll Do – Position Responsibilities:The successful candidate will:

Implement effective teaching strategies.Communicate with, motivate, and evaluate students.Maintain an active research agenda that includes publication of research papers in peer-reviewed journals and/or submission of research grants.Maintain an active service agenda.Minimum Qualifications (Education & Experience):

Applicants must have an earned PhD in Geology or related field.At least 1 year of structural geology related research experience during their doctoral program or afterwards.Field and teaching experience is desirable, though not required.Application Process:To be considered, candidates must apply online at
