Position DescriptionThe Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at UC Davis School of Medicine is recruiting for a highly qualified accredited orthopedic trauma fellowship-trained surgeon to complement its comprehensive trauma program. The position will serve in the Clinical-X series or Health Sciences Clinical Professor series with an academic rank commensurate with their experience and qualifications.

The UC Davis Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is the premier surgical service provider in the greater Sacramento region and beyond and is based on the UC Davis Health campus in Sacramento, California. Sacramento is an easily accessible, family-oriented city in close proximity to the San Francisco Bay area, Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the California coast, and Napa Valley.

EXPECTATIONS

This position will provide inpatient and outpatient care at UC Davis Health. This position will also include the teaching and supervision of fellows, residents, and medical students, as well as participate in departmental meetings, conferences, hospital and departmental committees. This position will participate in evening/weekend/holiday call for our UC Davis Health Hospital System.

QualificationsBasic qualifications

(required at time of application)

Must possess an M.D. (or equivalent)

Must have completed an approved Orthopaedic Surgery residency program

Must be board certified or eligible in Orthopaedic Surgery

Must have experience in and the ability to teach medical students, residents, and fellows.

Must have the ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment and adhere to University policy and procedures.

Additional qualifications

(required at time of start)

Must be fellowship-trained in Orthopaedic Trauma.

Must be eligible for licensure in the State of California and/or have an active California medical license prior to appointment start date.

Preferred qualifications

(other preferred, but not required, qualifications for the position)

Teaching experience in an academic clinical setting.

Ability and experience to conduct scholarly/clinical/translational research.

Experience obtaining extramural funding and/or administering clinical trials.
