IntroductionWe are seeking Research Scientist candidates with demonstrated publication records in one or more of our focus areas and technical leadership potential. As part of the IBM Research team, you will conduct world-class research on innovative technologies and solutions and publish in top-tier conferences and journals. You will also contribute to the commercialization of the resulting assets. Demonstrated communication skills and ability to work independently, as well as in a team, are highly desired traits.Your Role and ResponsibilitiesThis is for a 2025 summer internship with the following start dates: May - August or June - September for quarter system schools.In this role, you will apply your research skills toward new hardware design and applications from state-of-the-art chip architecture, design, fabrication, and test to advanced chip packaging. Interns are expected to have a strong research background as evidenced by project or publication in semiconductor technology, materials science, or allied fields.Required Technical and Professional ExpertiseApplicants should be PhD & MS students pursuing graduate studies.Expertise in one or more of these areas:Semiconductor or memory device fabricationLithographyNovel Film deposition and epitaxial growthWet chemical processesDevice physicsChip Packaging and thermal managementPolymer materialsComputational materials scienceComputational opticsDevice simulationSemiconductor test and characterizationPreferred Technical and Professional ExpertisePrior publications in focus areas and/or internship experience.About IBM ResearchIBM Research is the organic growth engine of IBM and an innovation engine for our customers and partners.
