The Department of Mathematics seeks exceptional teachers with established and active research programs in one or more of the following: Stochastic processes, differential equations, mathematical modeling, numerical analysis, operations research, dynamical systems, mathematical fluid dynamics. Successful candidates will be mathematicians whose interests complement and interface with those of our continuing mathematics faculty and serve the needs of the curriculum. We aim to hire candidates able to contribute to the emerging College initiatives in engineering, computation, and applied sciences.For these positions, the teaching responsibility will be an average of 4.5 courses per year, including courses in calculus, differential equations and/or probability. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics, and should have completed at least one year of either a full-time teaching position in mathematics or of a postdoctoral position in mathematics. The finalists will be invited to campus for on-site interviews in early December, and we expect to be able to extend an offer to a successful candidate by the end of December.Colby is a highly selective college of approximately 2500 students located in central Maine.
