$115,732-$123,405POSITION : IB Middle Years Programme Principal (Head of School)POSTING DATE : October 2, 2024DESCRIPTION :Southgate Community Schools is seeking a talented and inspiring Principal/Head of School for the developing International Baccalaureate: Middle Years (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP). The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to inquiry-based, interdisciplinary learning, and student agency.Develop and implement a Downriver IB Program as a school start-up.Provide a vision, mission, and purpose for the school that connects IB standards and practices with district and state standards and curricula.Articulate the vision and mission of the IB MYP/DP and possess a long-term plan for sustainability and growth.Ensure the successful implementation of the MYP so that students are well-prepared to undertake the IB DP.Work closely with the district’s Primary Years Programme staff to ensure a strong and cohesive tie to the IB continuum.Provide a challenging framework to encourage students to make practical connections between their studies and the real world.Ensure that all organizational, academic, and social-emotional practices are implemented according to school policy.Develop and implement systems for communication with the community.Plan and facilitate events, student, parent, and community meetings and information sessions that promote awareness of the IB program during and outside the instructional day.Guide the development of a caring community that includes all stakeholders in the school.Ensure the teaching, learning, and implementation of the IB Learner Profile.Provide consistent and accurate information to the community regarding the IB MYP/DP.Assist teachers in using and analyzing data from a range of pre-assessments, formative assessments, and summative assessments, which align with the IB Assessment Policy, to drive instruction.Develop and deliver professional development to teachers while ensuring teachers understand current educational best practices in relation to the IB MYP/DP and the inquiry framework for instruction.Lead in the development, supervision, and evaluation of instructional staff and staff development while monitoring teaching practices to ensure alignment with IB standards, practices, and unit requirements.Maintain student safety and carry out student discipline through the implementation of restorative practices.Stay current with updated IB documentation and training.Ensure the successful implementation of the MYP interdisciplinary teaching and learning.Assist teachers with the creation and implementation of IB MYP and DP unit planners.Spearhead the MYP and DP authorization process (and reauthorization in subsequent years); prepare and submit documentation required on an ongoing basis to ensure all requirements are met.REQUIREMENTS :Proven strong instructional leadership, rapport, and collaboration skills.Experience in building programs.Experience in advertising programs and building relationships with community members.Administrator certification and teacher certification.At least 5 years of effective teaching experience.Experience with International Baccalaureate MYP/DP programming.STARTING DATE : November, 2024RATE OF PAY : In accordance with the SPSA Collective Bargaining ContractAPPLICATION PROCEDURE :TO APPLY:
