Description:Responsible for the supervision and safety of children ages 5-14 and the basic instruction; including planning and leading of enrichment activities and games to these children. Responsible for the supervision of counselors, assistant counselors and volunteers. Responsible for driving the 15-passenger van for pick-up of campers to post care location. Responsible for communication with the Program Coordinator concerning these individuals.

Job Summary:

Attend mandatory staff training sessionsPlan and instruct program activities and games for camp participantsResponsible for the safety of individuals in campSupervise and lead participants in daily camp activitiesAssist in the management and evaluation of counselorsAssist in the management and evaluation of volunteersAssist in the management and evaluation of assistant counselorsResponsible for effective communication to caregivers regarding participant progress and behaviorAttend staff meetings as scheduled by Program CoordinatorEnforce late pick-up policy and ensure all participants are properly dismissed to caregiversResponsible for care and maintenance of camp equipment and storage areasComplete written reports such as accident and incident reports in a timely mannerResponsible for maintenance of all camp paperworkCommunicate to supervisor(s) if there are problems or issues needing special attentionPerform other duties as assigned by Program Coordinator

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or working towards Bachelor’s in Education or related disciplineExperience working with childrenAt least 1 year experience working in a camp settingHigh school diploma or GEDAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructionsAbility to read staff manuals, memos, and attendance sheetsAbility to complete attendance sheets, accident reports, incident reports and camper behavior reports using prescribed formatAbility to give verbal direction to subordinates and communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, citizens, and the publicExerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently

Rate:Starting at $20.75/ hour

Schedule:Hours are 2-6pm Monday through Friday. Camp dates are June 10-August 9
