Riverside Research is seeking an Electromagnetic (EM) Scientist with experience in electronic warfare (EW) and electronic protection (EP) to support work for the Engineering & Support Solutions Business Unit in Dayton, OH. A successful candidate for this position will perform independent verification and validation (V&V) of material solutions for electromagnetic pulse (EMP) and directed energy (DE). Additionally, the candidate will generate recommendations in the form of technical briefings, reports, and other analytic documents, and provide guidance to less experienced staff, review the work of others, authoritatively contribute to multi-functional analytic teams, and maintain currency in understanding nuclear technologies and trends. This position will also provide support by devising, evaluating, and recommending new methodologies and analytical tools under various stages of development, and by investigating and advising management regarding feasibility for complex projects. The SME position will be involved in managing programs and customer relationships across the DoD and DoE. The qualified candidate will provide extensive research, technical assessments, and policy recommendations, on existing and emerging technologies. This is a full-time position located at Wright-Patterson AFB.Responsibilities
Perform independent V&V of material solutions for EMP and DEPlan, organize, and execute in-lab and field measurementsPerform data collection, analysis and management, document and present resultsCollate and process data collected from testing and customer interactionsDesign custom test setup visualizations in SolidWorks for fabrication and implementation to meet non-standard customer requirementsInteract with government customer and industry across the Air ForceQualifications
Minimum Requirements:Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI and SAP clearanceBachelor's degree in physics or engineering with 8 years of experience or 6 years with MS or 3 years with PhD.Experience in EW and EPAdvanced insight into characterization techniques and materials behaviorExpertise in radiation transport and nuclear environmentsExperience in measuring and modeling RF emissions and propagationFamiliar with network analyzer, oscilloscope, RF component and antenna operationsProficient in Python, Matlab, COMSOL and SolidWorksDigital signal processing (DSP) and software defined radio (SDR) experienceAbility to work in confined spacesAbility to lift 50 lbsAble to travel up to 25% of the year including weekends and domestic and internationally (valid US Passport or ability to obtain one)Desired Requirements:Active TS/SCIExperience with RF shielding materialsUnderstanding of basic radiation propagationExperience with ionizing radiationGlobal Comp
