This is an office-centered position*--you must physically report to the duty station stated in this announcement on a regular basis.*EPA offers work-from-home and work schedule flexibilities as described in the Benefits section.

In addition to the basic entry education requirements, you must have specialized experience and/or directly related education as described below:

To qualify for the GS-15 level, you must have 1 year of full-time* specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level defined as providing leadership, oversight or technical expertise for a scientific project or program managing or overseeing clean-up of uncontrolled hazardous waste sites (NPL (National Priorities List) and NPL-caliber sites) for private and/or federal facility sites, as required by CERCLA (Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act) and/or SARA (Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act); and/or coaching, mentoring or leading others.

Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas:

Ability to plan, organize and direct the goals and objects pertaining to Superfund & emergency response programs (CERCLA Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act), CWA (Clean Water Act), OPA (Oil Pollution Act).

Ability to research, interpret, and apply environmental policies and regulations.

Ability to develop and implement short- and long-range administrative program and operational plans.

Ability to direct, coordinate and oversee work through subordinate organizational units.

Ability to advise staff and supervisors regarding policies, procedures, and directives of higher level management or headquarters.

Ability to ensure reasonable equity among units developed, modified, and/or interpreted and rating developed by subordinate supervisors.

Skill in oral communication.

Skill in written communication.

Skill in identifying, analyzing, evaluating and advising to improve operations/program direction.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
