If you are interested in a career in law enforcement, our Jail Deputy position is a great way to get your foot in the door. The Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office provides a learning environment where Deputies can gain experience and knowledge. Jail Deputies who are successful in our corrections center are provided preference points if/when they seek employment in the Patrol division of the Sheriff’s Office.A Deputy in our jail can work anywhere at any time, even within the same shift, including intake/booking, supervision of inmates and their movements in the housing units, or inmate transport throughout the facility, to their court appearances, or other appointments as needed. Some work is done individually, but there are also plenty of opportunities to work with others as a team.Anyone who is interested should test with PST as soon as possible so we can move forward with your future in Corrections. The following are automatic and potential disqualifiers. Applicants should not apply to our agency if they indicate any of the automatic disqualifiers. Potential disqualifiers will be considered on a case by case basis.Driving : Automatic disqualifiers include suspension of driver's license within past 2 years, 3 or more at-fault accidents in past 3 years, and no conviction of driving under the influence of alcohol and or drugs or reckless driving within last 5 years.Drug Usage : Automatic disqualifiers include illegal use of ANY controlled substance while employed in a criminal justice capacity, illegal heroin use, hallucinogen use within past 3 years, and pattern of illegal use of prescription medication.Criminal Activity : Automatic disqualifiers include any adult felony conviction and any misdemeanor convictions while employed in a criminal justice capacity.Employment : Automatic disqualifiers include 3 or more terminations, dishonorable discharge from the United States armed forces, and lying during any stage of the hiring process.Contact Information
