LTA Research and Exploration has an opening for a motivated Test Technician to join our team and build ‘lighter than air’ flight vehicles. You will work within a dynamic engineering and design team to conceptualize, rapidly prototype, test and implement innovative solutions for the design, fabrication and assembly of large experimental flight vehicles. We believe in fast-cycle development and approach to flight hardware development with the motto "build a little, test a little, learn a lot".Responsibilities

Supporting engineering in all testing tasks as requiredConducting component, assembly, and systems testing on rigid structures, soft structures, and electrical equipment. Primarily responsible for conducting mechanical property testing using Universal Testing Machines (UTMs)Performing calibration tests under real-world conditionsExamining structures, materials, samples, hardware, and instrumentation for flaws or defectsMonitoring and manipulating instrumentation and processes used to conduct testsIdentifying the root cause of mechanical and electrical issues and performing repairs as requiredAssembling, calibrating, improving, and performing maintenance on machines and software used to perform testsCompiling data and providing detailed feedback about test progress and issues to engineersCreating and maintaining an inventory of test equipment, hardware, and test samplesMaintaining a clean and organized work areaWorking in a safe manner, following company, local, state, and federal policies and regulationsTraining other employees in the testing protocol as requiredUndertaking other projects or duties as assignedQualifications

1+ years of hands-on experience with hand tools, power tools, sensors, measuring instruments, and test equipmentHigh attention to detailFamiliarity with sharing technical data in written and verbal communicationAbility to work in a fast-paced environment and flexible in adapting to new situationsProficient with a computer and Microsoft Office or Google Suite (Google Sheets)Able to lift 35 lbs.Preferred Qualifications

1 year of experience in operating mechanical test equipment, including hydraulic and electromechanical UTM (Universal Testing Machine)Proficient in setting up extensometers, load cells, humidity chambers, thermal chambers, thermocouples, and transducersA.S. in Engineering Technology or a related fieldFamiliarity with SOLIDWORKS.What We Offer!

The base rate for this role is $25-36/hour, which is determined based on experience, geography, and qualifications. The base salary is one component of the total compensation package, which includes a very competitive annual bonus, 401K Match, and other generous benefits.
