- Your Future Position?A Research Scientist in the Discovery group of the Fragrance & Beauty Division is a unique role in leading and developing our perfume ingredient portfolio using skills in synthetic organic chemistry obtained in high level education at renowned academic institutions. The role requires people willing to interact with various S&T laboratories in Kemptthal and Shanghai as well as with Givaudan’s perfume creation and regulatory teams. The major focus of the role is on planning and executing research programs in organic synthesis to identify performing and sustainable odorants and additives for the Fragrance Industry, according to company's business objectives and corporate strategy. You will be based in Shanghai and report directly to the Head of Chemical Research Shanghai. Sound interesting? It could well be your good opportunity.In this exciting role you will:Design and develop new classes of sustainable fragrance molecules.Collaborate with chemists and experienced technicians/research associates to ensure the highest scientific quality.Provide expert chemistry advice and communicate acquired knowledge to technical staff and business leadership.Keep up-to-date with the chemical literature and continuously transform ideas into new products and enabling synthetic routes.Learn to understand the needs of perfumers: you will develop your skills to translate odor descriptions into chemical structures and to build your own qualitative and quantitative structure-odor correlations.Communicate results clearly and efficiently in internal reports, presentations, and publications.Consider toxicological aspects in synthesis planning (Safe by DesignTM).You?Are you someone who wants to grow and shape your own world? Then come to join us – and impact your world.Your professional profile includes:A PhD in organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry with a strong background in preparative organic methods and associated analytical methods.3-5 years of research experience in an academic or industrial laboratory; experience in molecule SOR design is a plus.A demonstrated track record in chemical problem-solving skills and the discovery of novel products or processes. Strong publication record is a plus.Highly motivated to strive for chemical innovation at the bench.In-depth knowledge of analytical methods (NMR, GC/MS, LCMS, IR, etc.) to unequivocally interpret chemical structures, reaction mechanisms and kinetic observations.Open, constructive, innovative, and enthusiastic for chemistry; a creative team player.#LI-HybridAt Givaudan, you contribute to delightful taste and scent experiences that touch people’s lives.
