Fire Chief

The Fire Chief oversees the volunteer fire department. The successful candidate must live within 10 minutes of the Fisher Fire Department.

The Fire Chief is appointed by the Fisher City Council and answers directly to the Council on matters of the department.

All other officers are appointed by the Fire Chief with the approval of the City Council.

The Fire Chief represents the department and the department’s interests to the City Council.

The Fire Chief or his designated representative represents the department and the City of Fisher on the county and state level.

The Fire Chief is subject to all of the qualifications of being an active Firefighter and First Responder.

The Fire Chief is responsible for all aspects of the department including but not limited to personnel, equipment, facilities, training, budget, reporting, record keeping and the overall operation of the department either personally or through delegation of tasks.

The Fire Chief is responsible for the safety and well-being of all members.

The Fire Chief shall use diligent efforts to see that all members are qualified and following standard operating procedures and accepted practices.

The Fire Chief is to be open minded about all ideas and concerns of members, public and City Council regarding the department.

The Fire Chief is in command at all incidents, when present, but may delegate incident command and other command staff, if appropriate.

When absent, the Assistant Chief assumes the role, followed by Captains and then to Senior Members.

On medical scenes, in the Fire Chief’s absence, the First Responder President is in command, followed by Senior First Responder Members.
