The position of Safety and Wellbeing Manager, US West will be responsible for leading and managing all safety and wellbeing programs throughout the West unit. These safety and wellbeing programs include proactive engagement with leadership, staff, projects, offices, and clients. The Safety and Wellbeing Manager will also audit projects and offices, investigate incidents, manage claims, and be responsible for key performance indicators and reporting. The role collaborates with other Unit Safety and Wellbeing Managers and reports directly to the North America Region Safety and Wellbeing Manager.Responsibilities of the position include, but may not be limited to:Engage with all staff activity in the West Unit and become familiar with the projects, offices, and clients.Make safety and wellbeing integral to each operation by promoting worker involvement in the work planning and hazard identification process.Maintain an active and visible involvement using open communication with employees regarding safety items on the project or assignment.Review and understand contractual obligations regarding safety.Manage the site and interface with third parties in a manner consistent with our contract agreements and the applicable standard of reasonable care.Verify that safety and wellbeing risk assessments and plans are current and amended when project activities or conditions change.Identify safety and wellbeing program gaps and hazards and develop control plans in conjunction with Mott MacDonald’s business management practices.Verify and document that Mott MacDonald team members have completed any required specialty training (e.g., fall protection, confined space entry) and appropriate medical surveillance as well as ergonomic set-up and evaluation.Conduct safety and wellbeing orientation training for all Mott MacDonald team members prior to entering the project work areas.Verify that safety and wellbeing meetings, forms and permits are conducted and documented as needed throughout the course of the activity as outlined in the safety and wellbeing plan.Verify appropriate PPE use, availability, and training; conducting frequent safety briefings for Mott MacDonald team members.Conduct accident investigations including root cause analysis; facilitating Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) or other government agency inquiries or inspections, follow-up and recordkeeping.We invite applications from candidates with the following experience:A degree in Safety and Health or equivalent.Fifteen (15+) years of safety management experience.A Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification or both.A deep understanding of legal health and safety guidelines.Ability to produce reports, analysis and develop relevant health and safety plans and procedures.Excellent organizational and motivational skills.Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability.Exceptional communication (verbal, written and leadership) and interpersonal abilities.Demonstrated ability to identify known potential exposures and lead the implementation of corrective actions.Ability to travel 50% of the time.Experience with Microsoft Office suite programs.Experience in engineering, design, construction and operations in the transportation, water, environment, and energy markets is preferred.This position can be based in any of our US West offices.Our teams are comprised of bright and enthusiastic people who wish to make a difference to the world that we live in.
