This Senior Scientist will join the Analytical Development team to develop, optimize, and perform qualification/validation work on numerous analytical methods for early/late-stage cell therapy. Extensive experience with potency assays, molecular assays, flow cytometry, cell culture, and T cells is required. Experience in T cell isolation, enrichment, activation, transduction, expansion and cryopreservation utilizing functionally closed cell systems would also be a plus.Your primary responsibilities will include design and execution of experiments, and authorship of technical protocols and reports. Additional activities include method optimization and method qualification. This position represents an excellent opportunity for career development, working closely with experienced scientists in a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment.Key ResponsibilitiesPlan, design, conduct, analyze, interpret experiments mostly independentlyLead the development of assays for clinical and preclinical useDesign and execute qualification/validations of assaysLabel and store samplesMaintain databasesFully Analyze and write up resultsin electronic lab notebooks in a timely mannerPrepare documentation, including study plans, SOPs (protocols), batch records, experimental evaluation and summary, study reports, etc.Proactively seek input from colleagues to progress own projects as well as actively share own experience and knowledge to help progress colleagues’ projects.Contribute to routine lab maintenance as well as be considerate to colleagues, abiding by the lab rules and working in a safe, clean and tidy mannerIf available and appropriate, project work-stream leadership/management and/or supervision and training of other junior scientistsQualifications and ExperienceDegree in biochemistry, chemical engineering, or related disciplineSubstantial and relevant post-graduate experience within academic or industry setting, preferably including an MSc or PhD in a relevant scientific areaExtensive relevant experience of laboratory procedures, including cell culture and ideally flow cytometry or other vector-based analytical methodsExperience with developing and troubleshooting assays and ideally with evaluating assay performanceExperience in analytical assay development, and familiarity with regulatory guidelines around assay validation.DesirableAn in depth understanding of immunology/T cell biology, cell-based assays (i.e. Potency), molecular assays, and flow cytometryExperience working with lentiviral vectors and primary human T cells including T cell isolation, enrichment, activation, transduction, expansion and cryopreservation utilizing functionally closed cell systemsExperience working with quality systemsAt Adaptimmune we embrace diversity and equality of opportunity.
