The Cornell University Department of Information Science (IS) in the Ann S. Bowers College of Computing and Information Science (CIS) has tenure track and tenured faculty positions available. The IS Department spans Cornell's Ithaca and New York City campuses where nearly 40 faculty members are leaders in their respective fields within Information Science's interdisciplinary structure.We are interested in applications from researchers in any of the broad research areas of the department, with a focus on candidates whose research engages with ethical, legal, or policy issues in the context of computing systems, including those involving artificial intelligence, robotics, or underserved communities. Additionally, we seek candidates who can contribute to advancing the department's commitment to diversity and inclusion.Location and Community

Faculty hired for this Ithaca campus search will have their teaching and research based in Ithaca. The IS faculty are located in Cornell's Gates Hall and the department has strong connections with several other units on campus, including Computer Science, Communication, Economics, Sociology, Science and Technology Studies, Operations Research and Information Engineering, Cognitive Science, and the Law School.The department strives to offer a high quality of life, providing a collegial and supportive atmosphere on campus. Ithaca is in the heart of the Finger Lakes region, offering a vibrant cultural life and a wide range of sporting and outdoor activities. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree by August 2023.
