Postdoctoral Fellow in Cellular-Resolution Imaging of Population Codes in Marmos

University of Minnesota, Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States, 55199

About the Job

Location: Minneapolis, MNJob Type: Full-timeDuration: 2 years (with potential for extension)Application Deadline: December 1, 2024About the Role:As part of a new collaboration, the Kara and Zimmermann laboratories at the University of Minnesota are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join a cutting-edge research project focused on cellular-resolution imaging of population codes in the neocortex of marmosets. The successful candidate will apply advanced optical imaging techniques to explore the neural population codes involved in visual processing and decision-making across different cortical regions. This project leverages ultra-wide field three-photon imaging and genetically encoded calcium indicators to visualize and study up to 1 million neurons simultaneously. The goal is to unravel the relationship between these neural codes, blood flow changes in individual vessels, and fMRI voxels.Key Responsibilities

Utilize in vivo three-photon optical imaging and other advanced techniques to study large-scale neuronal activity.Investigate neural population codes and their relation to cortical blood flow and fMRI data.Analyze complex imaging data using quantitative and computational approaches.Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of neuroscientists, optical engineers, fMRI researchers, and data scientists.Present research findings at conferences and contribute to high-impact publications.Qualifications

Required Qualifications:Ph.D. in Neuroscience or Biomedical Engineering.Strong quantitative and analytical skills.Experience with in vivo optical imaging (two-photon, three-photon) or electrophysiology.Experience with imaging data analysis and software (e.g., MATLAB, Python).Peer-reviewed publications in systems neuroscience. How To Apply
