Salary:

$110,000 - $140,000 (+)

The Health, Safety & Environment Manager supports the Director of Health, Safety and Environment with all aspects of the Occupational Safety Programs and initiatives. This role requires strong organizational and communication skills and works closely with the People & Culture team to provide employees with a safe and rewarding work experience.

Manager of Health, Safety & Environment Duties & Responsibilities:

Develop and support project HSE plans, regulatory requirements, and safe work practices.

Conduct Jobsite Hazard Assessments and provide solutions on controls.

Conduct HSE Program audits.

Supervise field activity for compliance to the Marcon HSE Program.

Review project scope and identify general health and safety requirements.

Participate in recommending improvements in processes, design, procedures, and equipment to minimize hazards.

Identify training requirements and coordinate training dates with HSE Admin.

Identify trends and communicate project-specific HSE information through reports and presentations.

Implement preventative measures to reduce the risks of exposure to hazards.

Implement communications and action plans at a project level.

Support, encourage, and inspire others through coaching and mentoring.

Participate in on-site investigative processes, recommending and evaluating corrective actions.

Conduct project HSE inspections and monitor quality and effectiveness of inspections.

Develop and maintain positive relationships with all trade partners, consultants, and employees.

Provide site-specific training/orientation to contractors as onboarding process.

Lead site safety review meetings, project JHSC, and participate in pre-mobilization meetings with project team; create and distribute minutes to relevant parties.

Participate in all Incident Investigations.

Be a subject matter expert in the Marcon HSE Program, Procore, SharePoint, and other online platforms.

Support the project team with HSE documentation control.

Oversee the project Traffic and Pedestrian Management Plan for quality and effectiveness.

Assist the HSE Director with COR Audits.

Injury Management Coordination.

Other duties as required.

Director of Health, Safety & Environment Qualifications:

3-5 years experience as a Safety Manager overseeing Site Safety Coordinators across multiple large construction projects.

Working toward or possession of post-secondary diploma/degree in HSE or related field.

Working toward or possession of professional safety designation such as NCSO, CRSP, etc.

A minimum of 8-10 years’ experience in a health and safety role in a related industry.

Must have a current Construction Safety Officer Certificate and a valid Level 3 First Aid ticket (OFA2 with Transport Endorsement will be considered).

Solid understanding of provincial and federal OH&S and environmental legislation and HSE processes.

Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.

Outstanding prioritization, organizational and time management skills.

Effective interpersonal skills to address and resolve conflict.

Critical thinking and efficient problem-solving techniques.

Proven working knowledge of construction specifications, methods, and procedures.

Demonstrated understanding of Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, PDFs with a strong interest in adopting new technology.
